Canadian insurer Sun Life appoints a new president for international hubs and chief executive for its Hong Kong unit.
Sun Life appoints Karim Gilani as president of international hubs, according to a statement, which includes the high net worth business in Hong Kong, Singapore and Bermuda.
He was most recently Sun Life Asia’s chief financial officer and head of strategic integration. He joined Sun Life in 2015 and previously held various roles in risk, actuarial, products, reinsurance and consulting in Asia and North America.

Clement Lam was also appointed as Hong Kong CEO, pending regulatory approval), reporting to Gilani. Lam is currently the general manager for the firm’s life and health unit in Hong Kong.  
According to Sun Life Asia’s president Léo Grépin the firm will continue to focus on its pension and life and health business in Hong Kong; advance its Greater Bay Area strategy; and build out its Asia high net worth insurance business.
Sun Life currently sports more than 22 million clients in Asia across distribution channels including 10.3 million new clients in the last four years.
