WeSure, Alipay Insurance and Waterdrop Insurance Mall have fully utilised the online advantages during the pandemic and their main indicators such as premium income and the number of new users has soared.
Alipay Insurance had cumulative premium income of CNY1.97bn ($279m) in Q1 this year which overtakes many small and medium-sized insurance companies.

Meanwhile, WeSure has accumulated a total of 80m active users so far with a repurchase rate as high as 40% and the Waterdrop company with its pioneering ‘mutual assistance + insurance’ business model has fully leveraged the advantages of online insurance producing excellent results.

According to insiders, the pandemic has played a role in accelerating the digitalisation of the insurance intermediary sector.
